Laura Loe Advanced Painting

Open Creative Week

Laura Loe

Advanced Oil Painting

This is a class that is not for beginners or even for the occasional painter, but for people who are prolific and comfortable with painting currently. Once you register I will need to approve your application to make sure you are in a place where this workshop can help. I have had some great artists come to this class who are not ready experience wise for this kind of approach and it is not good for me or that artist.

If you are not an experienced oil painter you can still come as an open retreat creative and enjoy Nimrod, but sign up for the Open Week.

This week is for the advanced artist who is looking for guidance on finding and refining their own voice. This is not a week for the beginner artist or one who expects technical help as there will not be formal critiques and formal lessons. This week is aimed at those who work hard, expect themselves to work all day, have an open mind to feed off the other artists in the group with their main goal is getting much needed time to work. My strong suit is in giving you another set of eyes and helping you with my experience. . Laura has been a professional oil painter since 1996, taught at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts Studio School for over a decade, shown in numerous galleries and shows andhas won many awards for oil paintings. Chosen as a Woman in the Arts award recipient in Richmond, VA. Laura's work can be found in many corporate and private collections.  The right artist for this workshop wants to grow and get work done this week, but does not need basic or even intermediate technical help.

Laura Loe is the Owner/Director of Nimrod Hall. She has been the Director of Nimrod Hall Artists since  1997 and purchased the property in 2013 to continue the longstanding tradition of providing such an inspirational and amazing place to create. She he has been a professional oil painter since 1996.

You do not have to be a visual artist  but can be a photographer, a writer, a poet, someone who needs a week to read, just get away and do puzzles. Any number of creative endeavors.

A studio is important if you require quiet, so rent one if that is the case. Artists of all kinds including painting, drawing, writing, photography, encaustic, any mixed media, photography, poetry and any other creative endeavor you can imagine.

ALL MEDIA, ALL LEVELS . Come alone or with a friend. Photography, Writing, All Visual Artist Media. Literally anyone is welcome who has a creative spirit. This a great week for friends traveling together who are also interested in fun and bonding!

A perfect getaway for a group of painters who want to travel together, the Artist Retreat Week is a session designed for any artist at any level in any medium. It is ideal for the artist who doesn't want structured time or instruction but would benefit from having time to work , enjoy the experience, have time to create with no stress and meet other artists at Nimrod Hall with the same mission.  Perfect for the couples who want to travel together where one paints and one reads, or just friends in the same situation.

Nimrod Hall has an amazing ability to bring out the artist or writer in anyone and having nothing to do but attend meals that are served. You do not have to be a visual artist  but can be a photographer, a writer, a poet or anyone who wants a week to just be and not have to do much else.

If couples want to travel together you both need to fill out and send in an application. I have a limit on the amount of people who attend. Relaxing is also a form of creativity. Rooms are too old fashioned to be shared but couples and friends will be housed next to one another!

9 private studio’s are available for an extra fee of $150. They will be rented on a first come basis and will need to be rented when you register, or on arrival if available.
